The moon has been beautiful and full-ish for the last several nights, so I thought it fitting to make a quick and dirty little video about moon salutations. If you’ve practiced yoga in a class before, there is a high chance that you’ve done some sort of sun salutation. Sure… sun salutations are wonderful and all, but moon salutations kinda get left in the dust, which is a shame because they provide a nice change of body direction, and they are super fun!
Moon salutations stimulate the lateral sides of the body, promote balance, strengthen the lower body, stretch the legs and back, improve circulation, destress the body and mind, and help mitigate any hormonal issues, including those associated with menstrual cycles, pregnancy, and menopause. On top of that, it’s a perfect sequence to do with mom on… nudge nudge… Mother’s Day.
